Mongolia's coal output rebounds in Aug after 9-th decline Production & Sales,  International 2021-09-16 08:57:57

Coal production in Mongolia increased 191,700 tonnes or 17.67% from the preceding month to 1.28 million tonnes in August, snapping a nine-month decline, according to data released by the National Statistical Office of Mongolia.

The production, however, was still 2.32 million tonnes or 64.47% lower compared with the year-ago level due to the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The total coal output increased 2.17 million tonnes or 11.56% from a year ago to 20.97 million tonnes during January-August.

Mongolia's iron ore (incl. concentrate) production was 1.30 million tonnes in August, down 0.40% on the year but rising 16.27% on the month, bringing total iron ore production to 8.68 million tonnes during January-August, down 1.6% on the year.

Iron ore output was 994,100 tonnes in August, rising 18.83% year on year and up 20.54% from July, while output in January-August reached 6.07 million tonnes, up 7.53% year on year.

Concentrate production was 307,900 tonnes in August, down 33.57% from a year ago but up 4.34% on the month, and the total output was 2.61 million tonnes in January-August, down 17.81% year on year.
